Three essential pieces of equipment to sterilize bottles of wine for the Home winemaking
If you've decided that home winemaking is for you, you want to know how you can save money and make the process more efficient. One way to save on costs is to reuse your bottles of wine. Even if a case of 12 bottles of 750 ml of Bordeaux-style wine is relatively inexpensive at about fifteen dollars is nearly $ 40.00 extra when you make 23 liters of wine if you buy new every time.
Instead of spending money on bottles of wine again, consider purchase the following items:
1. A brass bottle washer.
2. A sulphatizer (sometimes called Vinator)
3. A tree of the bottle (Sometimes called a drip bottle)
Brass Washer
The bottle washer can be threaded brass on opening the tap water and has a valve inside. Water pressure against the valve closes the puck all. When a bottle is placed on the end of it, then pushed down, the valve opens to allow water to be injected into the cylinder at high pressure. This will help eliminate residue stuck inside the bottle and give it a good cleaning.
Sulphatizer
A sulphatizer or vinator is a clever device used to disinfect the bottles of wine. Made of plastic, it holds the sulfite solution. The center is a clear white tube. When a bottle is inverted, then pushed down so that the tube is forced down, the sulfite solution is sprayed up in the bottle. Overall, I give each bottle about three or four speed "jets" to ensure full coverage of solution inside surface of the bottle.
Bottle Tree
A tree drip bottle or can come in different sizes, and generally hold a maximum of 90 bottles. Often, they will be made so that vinator can be attached on top. The drip contains "owners" who are inclined upward on which the neck of the bottle is slipped. This allows the bottle is empty. In addition, with the bottle upside down, the gas released from the sulfite sanitizing solution gets into the bottle instead of out, ensure complete disinfection.
The bottle tree is also a great way to store your empty bottles before your next batch of homemade wine ready!
