wine bottles punt

What is the penetration into the bottom of a bottle of wine?

Someone told me that it's called a punt release. Is this true?

This is not entirely true, but there is actually some truth. Well, I found that deep punt is actually more of a representation of the amount of pride for producers in what they have created. A winemaker cultivating its own vineyards, crops and then takes his creation to the bottle will probably be more proud of what he eventually bottles. He wants to put in a pretty package (Plus punt), which is a reflection of that pride. A trader who buys large scale quantities of juice and bottles only finished and marketing the product will most likely put the juice in a bottle of cheap (less deep punt) for it to sell quickly. He is more concerned by business issues like cash flow. In fact, many expensive wines sold under Trader Joe's are of this type. Here's a link fun you can check.
