A day at Eagles Nest Winery Botteling outside of San Diego

Thus, during the weekend I had one, if not most, pleasant day since the beginning Ventures Uncorked, my href = "http://www.uncorkedventures.com/wine_of_month_club.html" Club Wine Company. " My wife and I went to Eagles Nest Winery in Ramona, CA about 15 miles east of where we live) to help implement free bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon run.

We arrived around 9am and had a few moments to talk with Dennis and Julie, who meet multiple functions of the owner producer, vineyard manager and winemaker. They were both very nice and my wife and I liked to discuss with Between them all day, although I guess my thoughts on the meeting of two of them are similar to what people think of my wife and me … Julie is much more talkative, Dennis …. Michelle is just as much gossip as I am.

After addressing some of the volunteers, including Bill Eyer of CuvĂ©e Corner, we went with Julie to another part of the farm to help organize a permanent part of their inventory because we would be bottling some 75 cases later in the day. We spent about two hours moving boxes, the organization Wine and generally try to create additional space if necessary. I'm not the most organized guy in the world (far away) it was So good to have Michelle here to help …. Moreover, we do not complain of being an air-conditioned summer has made another appearance in California.

After the vintage of last year we moved to the organized bottling room with other volunteers. We discovered there was a bottle filling …. A pump moves the wine barrel to a retention basin then four bottles can be filled at once, there is a sensor off the charge once the bottle is filled to proper level.

After filled, they are moved more petting. As we have seen throughout the day the ladies did a better job with the new capping machine because they were not as eager as the guys. The guys in general moved too quickly and cause the machine to lose pressure and take a few minutes break, drink wine …. perhaps it was not an accident lol!

After plugging it came time for the seal be placed on the cap. Here, we found another new machine from Italy. After a good laugh at the record (yes it is in English and Italian) because it has never proposed a framework for the heater, we tried a few different techniques. It seems that the proper technique to have a balanced fusion of the seal is to move down quickly and then pause slightly at the bottom, before moving again quickly. I can say, this was not a strong point of mine …. I liked the filling of bottles of wine much more! It was a very different experience, so when we generally sell a wine gift or even just a normal membership to one of our wine clubs.

Normally, it should also affix the label this time near the time we left, they started to apply some of the labels, but Eagles Nest is a lot of custom labels for clients in both the wine is not labeled until directly after the sale …. which also requires part of the organization of the storage area of wine!

All in all both Michelle and I had a great time. Eagles Nest served a meal of lasagna, bread garlic, salad and wine and send us home with two of their dessert wines. They have a house on the property that is a very, very nice studio is available for hire. It is just one way in which Julie and Dennis (the owners) live and is surrounded by vineyards and inevitable that having housing around the terrace with views across the valley of Ramona.

As this is essentially a wine blog I started a wine business that would not be complete without a mention of the wines tasted.

During the bottling process, we could enjoy their free rein to Cab … which has been authorized generally believed. At lunch, we had a glass of Souzaoo that I thought I was fairly good and excellent coupling with the lasagna.

After seeing the cave near and see the amount of time, effort and money that the Eagles Nest spending to improve its product, I have a new appreciation for the struggles that wineries face again. It also makes me understand the old saying that in the Napa wine industry requires a great fortune to make a little.

This type of family owned a small production cellar that we would be able to work with, assuming they are producing world class wines.

At that time, to be perfectly honest, I tasted the wines in that price range that I was most impressed by. We have been invited to return and enjoy other wines with Dennis and Julie, and can take on this offer in the future.

I encourage anyone in the region San Diego, if you want to spend a night in a very nice place with nice people and take a little wine is better then what you find Temecula, give Eagles Nest a try. Frankly AVA Ramonda can produce quality wine in the world if the investment is made in the equipment and farming techniques.
